Week 11

Today’s lesson is having another similar forum like last week but different topic.

TOPIC OF THE FORUM: WHAT ARE WORTHWHILE/IMPORTANT LESSON OBJECTIVES?

INTRODUCTION

Today’s forum which involved three different goups have been beneficial to all of us where topics that have been discussed were related to our lesson objectives.

FINDINGS

A topic which related to the content knowledge has been arisen where we as a teacher, should know the content of the lesson on the subject that we are going teach. It is important that to know our lesson very well, we should have a proper lesson plan. Having proper lesson plan can help us “own” the subject matter content we are teaching. Different views were given from different background. Teachers should be ready to answer any questions from the students at all time even if it is not related to their own subject, therefore they must also know general knowledge of other subjects. Second issue was about how will us as a teacher engage all our students to participate in our lesson. Most speakers said by asking questions – fishing and shooting questions. Make them participate in a game or quiz or even in a small group activity.

In order to measure the students’ learning progress as our third issue, homework, end tests, exams, assessments and evaluations should be done. Expose them to practical work, hands on and projects. This will ensure you can teach the students to develop their problem solving skills. By giving project for techical level students, the students would know what’s wrong if it doesn’t work. This issues was discussed in the second group where most of the panels come from technical background.

In order to increase or enhance their communication skills, presentation is one good idea that have been highlighted by a panel where it can develop students’ communication skills to overcome their shyness and fear to talk in front of others.

CONCLUSION

To conclude, most of the topics discussed today can increase the students’ participation in class and enhance their performance in learning.
